Main purpose and scope of the job:

The focus of this role is to deliver a comprehensive package of support to people experiencing domestic abuse with diverse and complex needs.  The Lead Navigator will proactively work to recognise and implement solution focused actions for clients living in refuge, and through to their resettlement.

To deliver high quality, person-centred support to women and children fleeing to safe accommodation and continue this support for women who resettle in Portsmouth.   

The post-holder will work as part of a team in the given locality delivering specialist high quality, safe and effective domestic abuse support to those experiencing domestic abuse.

Ensure that children’s and vulnerable adults’ welfare is safeguarded in accordance with Stop Domestic Abuse’s Protection from Abuse Policy, the Portsmouth Safeguarding Children Board and the Portsmouth Safeguarding Adults Board policies and procedures, including making appropriate onwards referrals when required.  

To advocate for, source and identify, opportunities for safe resettlement and community inclusion. 

 To participate in the delivery of the on-call out of hours on a rota basis.

 Workers should be “free from abuse in their own lives.” Applicants are asked not to put themselves forward for selection if this is not the case.

 It is essential that the post holder has a driving license and access to a car for work purposes as this role covers multiple sites in Portsmouth.
