Become a sTOP DOMESTIC ABUSE Champion for your community

At Stop Domestic Abuse our vision is a world without domestic abuse. We know that to achieve this vision we must support our community and Ambassadors to improve awareness of and responses to domestic abuse.  We want to embed Domestic Abuse Champions within workplaces and communities to create safer spaces for those who have experienced abuse.

Our training is aimed at those who have responsibilities to the public, want to be a domestic abuse lead within their organisations or have responsibilities for staff.  Our Domestic Abuse Champions training will provide a detailed understanding of domestic abuse, stalking type behaviours and the predictable nature of serious harm or homicide together with an increased understanding of how best to respond and signpost to specialised support services.  We will also look at how you can be an active bystander and develop your leadership skills in the context of domestic abuse.

Following our training you will have a wider understanding of the complexities of abuse and be confident in your understanding of the different typologies of abuse.  This will enable you  to provide safe and relevant information that can promote pathways to safety and improve engagement and outcomes.  As a Domestic Abuse Champion you will have an increased awareness of the dangers of stereotypes and victim blaming language and will feel empowered and able to effectively challenge this.  Your understanding of the complex nature and impact of abuse, coupled with the significant impact to victims will better aid your response to disclosures and improve victim confidence in seeking support.

Please also consider our training if you have previously attended our Domestic Abuse Ambassador training or if you have a good level of understanding of the complexities of domestic abuse and want to be part of an improved community response.
