Behaviour change

Many people who are abusive are concerned about their behaviour and want support to help change this.
Behaviour change

Changing abusive behaviour takes honesty, responsibility and support. If your actions – such as controlling behaviour, intimidation, threats, shouting or physical harm – are affecting your relationships, it’s possible to make changes and build safer, healthier ways of relating to others.

Our behavioural change programmes support people who want to take responsibility for their behaviour and stop causing harm. Whether the behaviour has affected a partner, ex-partner or family member, we work with you to understand patterns, challenge harmful behaviour and develop safer, more respectful relationships.

Change doesn’t happen overnight. Our programmes provide structured, specialist support to help you recognise the impact of your behaviour, understand what drives it, and learn practical ways to respond differently. The focus is on lasting change that reduces harm and supports safer outcomes for everyone involved.

Stop. Think. Change.

Stop. Think. Change. supports people who want to stop using abusive behaviour. It is for those who have been harmful, controlling or coercive towards a partner, ex-partner or family member. Available in Fareham, Gosport and Havant (intimate partner and family relationships), and Portsmouth (family relationships).

“The support I received from Stop Domestic Abuse was invaluable. Without receiving the 1-1 support from my key worker, I wouldn’t be where I am today. It wasn’t just the emotional support she gave, but also how she helped me practically too. I felt equipped in knowing what to do to keep myself safe; I was supported thoroughly throughout the whole Police process, and whenever I felt worried or upset my keyworker was at the end of the phone for me.”
