Independent Domestic Violence Adviser (IDVA) - STOPDA80

Victim Service and Front Door East

Hours: 18 hours per week   

Fixed term contract ending 31st October 2020         

Salary: £24,723 qualified. £22,450 unqualified Pro rata (qualification expected within 12 months)

The Stop Domestic Abuse IDVA Service currently covers Hampshire. This post will be covering the Havant area. The post-holder may be based at more than one site. 

Workers should be “violence free in their own lives.”

Applicants are asked not to put themselves forward for selection if this is not the case.

Stop Domestic Abuse are looking for a committed, enthusiastic individual who holds a SafeLives IDVA or WAFE DAPA training certificate or is prepared to complete the training within 12 months.  An excellent understanding of domestic abuse and gender-based violence issues is essential including the impact on victims and their children and the legal and practical remedies available to these clients.  

The successful candidate must have experience of:

•      Working with victims of domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.

•      Carrying own caseload.

•      The MARAC process

•      Attending case management meetings and other external meetings.

•      Crisis management and will demonstrate appropriate skills including the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.

•      Advocating for vulnerable people
