Stop Domestic Abuse takes to the terraces with awareness raising campaign at Portsmouth Football Club

Stop Domestic Abuse is working in collaboration with Portsmouth Football Club for the 2023/24 Season to raise awareness of domestic abuse and the support services it delivers to victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

One in four women and one in six men in Portsmouth and across Hampshire experience domestic abuse before the age of 50. Last year Stop Domestic Abuse worked with 5448 people in South East Hampshire. Domestic abuse won't end unless perpetrators are supported to change. Our charity also works with people who admit that they have been abusive or used unhealthy behaviours in their relationships and are committed to changing.

Throughout the Season, we will be working with Portsmouth Football Club to increase awareness of the issue in the city and local area. Stop Domestic Abuse’s Helpline features on 20,000 fixture cards and on eye-catching fixture lists around the ground. We hope that this innovative campaign will offer anyone affected by domestic abuse a route to get help.

“Every time a Pompey fan picks up their fixture card or sees adverts in the bar or round the ground, they are receiving the vital message that help is available for victims of domestic abuse. Thanks to this collaboration with Portsmouth Football Club, up to 21,000 people every fortnight are exposed to our message that ‘It’s ok to ask for help’ if you’re experiencing domestic abuse. This initiative helps us reach our goal  -  that every victim of domestic abuse can access advice, support and information to keep themselves and their families safe.”
